After Divinity school I decided to read somethings devotionally that I was assigned in school.  At the top of the list was the book of Numbers.  It is the account of Israel’s time in the wilderness between bondage and the entrance into the promise land.  On a post-it I wrote, ‘Read Numbers, it is full of all kinds of crazy stuff, just like middle school.  A kind of identity formation, liminil period, and other things you should look at again.’  SO I started Numbers and may have other observations later, but in chapter 6 we get center piece of the Priest’s job, blessing others on behalf of God, and as a people of priests it could probably help us to refocus on our energy and attention.

Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the Israelites: You shall say to them, The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.

So they shall put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.
