In this week’s episode, I chat with San Antonio artist Paul Soupiset. I blogged here about getting the opportunity to meet Paul at Ruta Maya Coffeehouse back at the beginning of April. We’ve been keeping this one under our hats for a while and I’m really excited about exposing this little bit of homebrewed Christianity to the world.
Tripp opens the show by telling stories about his cohort friend and our charismatic listener, Cathryn Thomas. He also declares his love for legendary singer-songwriter and all around Vigilante of Love, Mr. Bill Mallonee.
Paul and I talk about his illustrations in Jesus for President by Shane Claiborne and Chris Haw, his 2007 Lentenblog, his pastor Gordon Atkinson, a.k.a. Real Live Preacher, and the Prayer Labyrinth he and his church recently constructed using only native materials.
We met right after he recorded another podcast promoting Danny Gregory’s upcoming book, An Illustrated Life: drawing inspiration from the private sketchbooks of artists, illustrators and designers, which features Paul’s artwork. The book is due out in October and you can pre-order now.
